Klaus was taken ill on October 28th 1997 when in his garden at home with his wife Traudl. He complained of feeling unwell and having pains throughout his body, shortly after that he collapsed with a severe heart attack. Sadly he couldn't be revived. He got only 66 years old.

Despite worldwide status he seemed to slip quietly away on the morning of October 28th, largely unnoticed by the media.

The memories about Klaus Wunderlich cause melancholy, but we will always remember him as a great musician and lovely colleague. He will live on in the hearts of many musicians and fans. Wherever Klaus's music is heard his personal crusade to bring peace to his fellow man will live on!
